summer-SUMMAH! part 1-at home

Okay now it is time for my way long post about my awesome summer!! So school got out at the end of June and I was just happy to not have any homework or tests or make-up work for 2 months!!

The day after school got out our ward had girl's camp and it was fabulous!! The theme was the Amazing Race and my leaders definately went the extra mile! Everything was so cute. 1st we were on teams (go red!!:).

Our camp was about 45 minutes away. We had one trailer and 3 tents. The camp was nice and it had indoor bathrooms, a challenge course, a pool, and archery! Our leaders made a clue box and put a "clues" in it which had our activity or challenge in it. When the Amazing Race theme song played we all ran to the clue box!
Even though our group was small, I got to know every one better and we got to spend time together! Yw's camp is the best, isn't it? (next to oakcrest and efy!!)

The softball season ended, and it was kind of sad! I hade a really fun team this year. We came in 3rd place in the city tournament, which I was happy about! We did really well in our games. One night we had a double header. The first game we won, the second game we won as well, but it wasn't without sacrifice ( my leg). Let me tell the story. I hit a far hit, so I was running around the bases. As I came to third my coach told me to keep going, but when I was halfway to home she was yelling for me to come back. I wasn't going to just stop so I kept going! I did my best slide so far into home and it was a homerun! I was so excited. But it was a mistake to not be wearing a slider on my left leg, because I got a huge dirt rash practically the size of my hand! It is still fading, three months later! Gotta love softball!

We had our team party at my coach's house and we went swimming and played Rock Band!!

May Happenings

In May, I was pretty busy at school, but I had time for some fun! Chuck and Christy came to visit around Victoria Day. (around Memorial Day) They got to bike ride, play with Jack, Christy helped me with my short story for Language Arts, and we went up to Banff and Lake Louise! Here are some pictures!

On May 27th, my school had its division track meet. We were at the field where collage teams meet, so it was nice! I was on the discus team, but I didn't make the shotput team. That day it got cold and windy, and I didn't do as well as last year, 8th place! There were around 16 other girls. I was happy because I made it to the final round and I threw my best this year, 17.98 m. I was a little intimidated, because all of the other girls competing were in 9th grade. The school deadline is later in Canada, February or March instead of September, so I'm pretty much the oldest in my grade. Everyone else in my grade was on the intermediate team, and I was on the senior team.

Cub Car Rally

In the beginning of April, my ward had it's 2nd annual Cub Car Rally, a.k.a. a pinewood derby! Last year it was just for the youth, but this year, the whole ward was included! I think they gave out around 100 cars, (for people to build). On the actual night there was around 60 cars entered to race! We had young women's/young men's activities where we could build our cars, (at my house). For the first few weeks after we got our cars, I wasn't sure what to make. Last year I made a pink 1950's Chevy convertible, that was awesome :). Should I go for style or speed? I wanted to do Lightning McQueen or another character. Finally I decided to make a wedge, which had won last year. My dad was making the same thing. My dad cut the shape and put on axles he bought that were supposed to be fast. Then I painted it white. My dad also put in weights in the back. It turned out being too heavy, so we shaved out some wood in the bottom and I painted over that. The last step was the easiest, I put a blue Roxy sticker on it and the Roxy Rebel was ready!

On the night of the rally I was really excited! There were a lot of cool cars like a horse, (Sierra) a block of cheese, (Pratt's) and Ryan Calder's awesome car he spent 50+ hours on! I thought my car was decently fast, and I was really excited when it won the first round! Then it won it's second round, and it kept winning! It made it to the final round, the championship round!! My dad's car and Matt's old car my mom was racing also made it. I won!!!!! My car took first, my dad took second, (close to that) and Matt's car took third, (2nd or third I think). The Allen sweep! :) I got a certificate and a little trophy. Other men in my ward wanted to race my car again to make sure that theirs couldn't beat it. I was really excited that I had won! It was a great night and I'm sure the tradition will continue, the cub car rally, not the Allen sweep, but we'll see! ;) Here are some pictures!

ahh, summer!

Sorry everybody for not updating for awhile! I now have much more time because i'm finally out of school!! and no, I don't have summer school or something, school gets out at the end of June up here! Now that exams are over, homework is over, basically stress is over, I can relax! I have a lot to write about that I haven't gotten to, so I'm going to start with the Cub Car Rally/ Pinewood derby! Get ready for lots of posts!
