I play with dolls

I think I'm starting a new tradition- change my American Girl Doll's outfits every Sunday. Anyone that knows me knows that I looove American Girl, always have always will. I think if I had to grab stuff from a burning building I would consider my doll collection. I have a dream of working at AG magazine or in the development department. Today I changed all of my dolls to the outfit they came in.

Luxor Temple

Our last and final temple. It was fascinating to see paintings from the middle ages over the hieroglyphics. We also saw Alexander the Great's cartouche and lots of statues.

Karnak Temple

60 Acres. It was huge and hot. We saw finished obelisks and many columns to name a few. Adbul was our guide on our cruise and was from Luxor. He had three sons and loved soccer. I enjoyed having him as a guide!

(Valley of the Kings) and some statues in Luxor

We weren't allowed to bring cameras into the Valley of the Kings, but it was amazing. The hierglyphics have most of their color still, so that was awesome to see. We were used to the plain stone in all of the temples. We saw three tombs, then paid extra to see King Tut! He's a small, black thing. You could see his head and his feet. Since we had seen all of his treasures at the museum, it was fun to see where they all came from and how they fit.

More Crusing and Locks

We spent a whole afternoon just cruising. At dusk we arrived at river locks. It was cute to see these little boys on shore saying "hello, bonjour..". We passed through lots of little cities and saw many mosques.
More tidbits about the boat-
Two of the servers loved Melissa and I. One of them, Abdul, made Melissa a rose out of a napkin and looked like Obama. The food was really good and the desserts were very honey-y. While we were in Egypt it was the African World Cup of Soccer. Everyone there is crazy about it.  While we were at a dinner cruise in Cairo, we could hear the celebrations. It was great to see that part of the culture.

Edfu

We stopped here after lunch. We rode in a carriage from the boat, through the city, and to the temple at Edfu. The carriage was amusing because there were random charms, including a doll's hand, hanging fromt he roof. Another large and in charge temple with lots of heiroglypics.

Crusing the Nile

Hung out with some Frenchies, had my first European milkshake, relaxed on the deck, played Uno, read books, watched French TV and enjoyed the scenery.

Kom Ombo Temple

Our first stop along the Nile. We saw an original piece of wood, lots of hieroglyphics and learned about a nilometer and the Egyptian calender. This temple was also home to an Egyptian hospital.
